All quiet on the western front…

Sorry, I know the blog has been quiet lately but that is only because we haven’t had new maps.  It seems like this is the longest we’ve gone in between some sort of update.  I thought for sure when they added FastPass to Matterhorn and Toy Story Mania, we would at least get a change on the inside and perhaps some sort of new cover but nothing.  At least we know for sure we’ll get new map(s) on May 27th when the Guardians of the Galaxy remodel of Tower of Terror finally opens to the public.  Stay tuned…

Some Minor Updates Inside!!!

I guess these can count as “new maps”  The resort did some minor updates on the inside of each of the maps but left the covers and codes the same.

Here are the changes I noticed:

Disneyland:

  • New AP ad on the back
  • Added World of Color advertisement to inside flap
  • Changed name on employee tag

California Adventure:

  • New AP ad on the back
  • Added World of Color advertisement to inside flap
  • Shaded Tower of Terror picture gray

Main Street Electrical Parade and Elsa’s Back!

New maps came out today as Disneyland is debuting the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade featuring the beloved Elliot from Pete’s Dragon on the cover.  In a surprise move, DCA bailed on the World of Color cover and brought back Elsa.

Codes remain the same:  DLR-111816-ENG and DCA-111816-ENG

Happy 2017!!! New Maps!!!

Now that the HolidayTime event is officially over, we finally get some new maps.  It seems that Disneyland surprised everyone by bringing back Star Wars Season of the Force with a new version of Chewbacca on the cover.  DCA went with a familiar yet slightly different version of World of Color on their map.

Some notes on the inside:

  • Disneyland has the Railroad now labeled as “Returns 2017”
  • DCA has Tower of Terror now labeled as the new name “Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: BREAKOUT!” with a label of Opens Summer 2017.  Also the artwork of the building is slightly dimmed.

They didn’t change the codes for some reason so they’re DLR-111816-ENG and DCA-111816-ENG

Not sure how long these are going to last so keep an eye out as they can change at anytime.

Special shout out to Disneyland’s official social media account who posted pictures today of the new maps and asked if anyone collects the maps.  It’s good to know they acknowledge that us map collectors are out here! 🙂

New Print of Holiday Maps

There are a new round of maps but I wouldn’t even consider them anything crazy to go out and get them.  I didn’t even bother scanning them because nothing else changed but the AP ad on the back of the maps and the code in the front bottom corner.

The new codes are DLP-111816-ENG and DCA-111816-ENG

I’m curious to see what they’re going to do next week.  Tower of Terror is set to close on the 2nd but the Holiday Festivities don’t end until the 8th.  Will we have new DCA maps from the 3rd to the 8th that don’t feature the ad in the middle flap about ToT?

Happy Collecting and Happy New Year!

Holidays are Here!!!

The Holidays are here and the new maps came out today.  I’m happy to say we finally got some new covers for the season instead of them relying on the old tired recycled covers.  Disneyland features the beautifully transformed Christmas castle while DCA is showcasing the new Season of Light show.  My only complaint – I’m not too happy with the new bar across the bottom advertising the Twitter and Facebook pages.  There is plenty of room on the inside to advertise that! 🙂

Codes are DLP-111016-ENG and DCA-111016-ENG

November Maps – Out only 9 days

The bridge between HalloweenTime and HolidayTime seems to be getting shorter and shorter as each year passes.  The DLR has released the new maps today which are the same covers as the HalloweenTime maps but with different color bars at the top and with the removal of the HalloweenTime events on this inside.  These maps should be out only to November 9th as the HolidayTime starts November 10th!  Happy Collecting!

Codes are:  DLP-110116-ENG & DCA-110116-ENG

R.I.P. The Buena Vista Bugle

Normally, in the past, I would tweet the Disneyland Today account and inquire about the latest edition of the “Buena Vista Bugle” and they would usually respond almost instantly informing me they were working on the next issue and it should be out soon.  But for the past month, I’ve been tweeting them only to occasionally receive a response stating they were looking into my inquiry and then receive no follow up.   The last issue was released over 4 months ago which is abnormally long between issues.

I visited the parks yesterday and decide to take my normal routes of where the bugles were normally held (the stands and the cafe) only to find the metal newsstands are nowhere to be found and the cafe counters are sadly empty.  I decided to inquire with a couple employees including the one at the wait-time board along with a employee in the DCA City Hall and they both confirmed my fears – The Buena Vista Bugle is dead (they called it discontinued but I’m going with dead).

I hate to admit that I saw it coming but still sad to see it go.  RIP Buena Vista Bugle!  It was fun collecting you while it lasted.

Mickey’s Halloween Party 2016

Sorry, I’m late on this one!  Here is the map for Mickey’s Halloween Party 2016.  I’m happy to see they finally changed the cover to show a full body Mickey and a pumpkin instead of just his face.  Changes are always good in my book.

Code is DLP-092316-MHP-ENG
