I just found out that Disneyland has a new code on their map DLR-071119-ENG that I missed. I haven’t seen the map in person so I’m not sure what changed inside but it’s the same Millennium Falcon cockpit cover. Anyone got one of these yet? Pic Below.
Also, the Lion King show is due to end September 2nd which is currently on the DCA cover but Halloween Time doesn’t start to September 6th so we may get a bridge map in between there. Keep an eye out.
(thanks to my friend Kristin for the pic)
I thought once the previews were over, we’d get a new Disneyland Map with perhaps a new Galaxy’s Edge cover and also they would remove that block inside the maps that states the land is only open for preview guests. But we’re now several weeks past the previews and alas no new map.
Back in the day, they used to update the maps with even the smallest changes to the park but lately they seem to be late with their updates, waiting and building up changes before releasing a new map.
Is this the beginning of the end of the paper map? I hope not. But with all the rumors that the new Star Wars land isn’t doing well for attendance, the hiring freeze at the parks due to lack of attendance, the shows that have been around forever being cancelled, the desperate attempt to draw crowds by digging the Main Street Electrical Parade out of the dust bunnies – it’s not looking good. I can see them throwing the constant updates of the paper map aside to save $$$.
Today, DCA released a new map to advertise the start of the “Tale of the Lion King” celebration show. I love the cover, something different. The odd note about the inside is they now show the Inside Out ride as open even though I don’t believe it’s fully ready yet. Although I believe it’s getting close to being done. This make me feel this and the current Disneyland map will last through the Summer.
Codes are DLP-053119-ENG & DCA-060719-ENG

So, the day has come! Galaxy’s Edge is opening to the public today. Well, actually, only to the few who scored reservations. The new guide maps available to pickup at the park gate are the new Millennium Force family cover with a new layout inside. It looks like DCA still is going to be handing out the Disney PhilarMagic maps probably until the Festival of Lion King starts on June 7th.
Some notes on the new Disneyland map layout.
- The legend has been moved away from next to the map to the inside flap
- Space Mountain didn’t switch to the HyperSpace Mountain name like they did in the past. It’s even advertised in the inside flap still as Space Mountain.
For those die hard collectors, they are also handing out a very high quality special edition Disneyland Map with an inside flap detailing the features of the new land and the new Disneyland Map on the inside. I’ve been told these are being handed out one per person at the gate and I have yet to hear for how long. Perhaps while supplies last? Happy Collecting!
Interesting, Disney Fan Site Micechat posted a preview of the map that is supposedly coming out tomorrow and it features a painting of the land on the cover with beautiful metallic printing. It also has an inside unlike any previous maps. This is a different cover than the one displayed on the Disney Blog that featured a Father and Daughter in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Is this perhaps a one day map for the opening? We’ll find out tomorrow. Also, looks like there will be a merchandise and food guide for those diehard guide collectors.

Disneyland Blog posted a preview of the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Map today. The cover seems pretty boring to me but the land itself looks great in the map.

Just a reminder, these new May maps are out with the new rule changes included inside. This should be our last Disneyland map before it becomes Star Wars everything for what I’m sure will be years to come. I’m hoping the Star Wars covers will at least be nice scenic shots of the land and not just Kylo Ren on the cover. Fingers crossed.
